Fountain was built late 1800’s /early 1900’s.
Owners built a sandstone basin with concrete caps.
Fountain had over 20 years hard water build up.
They wanted the Bronze fountain restored, concrete caps transformed to match sandstone basin.
Photo 1. Before, started working on the caps.
Photo 2. Test area on a cherub proving I can do it.
Look at the cherub’s & maiden’s feet…BLACK!
Photo 3. After, taken in the shade.
Photo 4. After, taken in the sun. Turned the concrete caps into sandstone to match Sandstone.
It took 1 hr. to restore the Bronze fountain.
1 day to turn concrete caps into Sandstone.
$800 for the whole thing.
NOTE: To restore this fountain with traditional blasting techniques. You’d have to tent it, then blast with a soft media like soda. It would take 1 week, & cost approx. $4000-5000. You still run the risk of pitting. I didn’t even remove the water in clam shell basin before restoring.
